Our history
A culture forged by experience
1969
Me Gilles Hébert, now a retired Superior Court judge, and Me Henri Renaud founded our law firm in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield under the name Hébert & Renaud.
1981
Me Jocelyn Rancourt began his legal career by completing his Bar internship at Hébert, Lafontaine & Mercier. Me Lafontaine and Me Mercier would later go on to become judges of the Court of Québec. In 1985, Me Rancourt became a partner in the firm alongside Me Gilles Hébert, a role he held until his retirement in 2019.
1984
After completing her professional training in a Montréal law firm, Me Marie Legault joined Hébert & Rancourt.
1992
The firm adopted the name Rancourt, Legault & Boucher. Me Jocelyn Rancourt was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) by the Honourable Kim Campbell, then Minister of Justice of Canada.
2001
A new office opened in downtown Châteauguay.
2005
Me Jean-Gabriel Mercier Rancourt joined the firm as a student and was sworn in as a lawyer in 2008.
2006
Me Pierre Luc Joncas joined the firm after practising with a Québec City firm specializing in labour law.
2011
The firm moved from "Le Château-Martineau" to acquire Pavillon Dandurand, located at 303, rue Victoria, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
2016
Me Pierre Luc Joncas and Me Jean-Gabriel Mercier Rancourt became partners alongside Me Marie Legault and Me Jocelyn Rancourt.
2019
As the firm celebrated its 50th anniversary, Me Rancourt retired.
